By the Power of Ten

The primary goal of By the Power of Ten is to help our society have a strong democratic republican voice, where the lowest level people in society can still feel they have a representative voice that is heard by others. This, in turn, should help our society maintain a strong democratic republican government.

The Social Movement

By the Power of Ten™ is first and foremost a social structure, not dependent on any website or platform.

Step 1) Form a group of 10 people. For flexibility, the group can range from 7 to 13 people. Each person in this group will be a level 0 speaker, speaking for 10^0 = 1 person, themselves. Thus, this group would be a group of level 0 speakers.

Step 2) The group picks by majority vote one person in the group to speak for the group. This person then becomes a level 1 speaker, speaking for 10^1 = 10 people, the other members of the group.

Step 3) Form a group of 10±3 level 1 speakers.

Step 4) The group of level 1 speakers picks by majority vote one person in the group to speak for that group. That person then becomes a level 2 speaker. A speaker can only be speaker for one group, thus from whatever level 0 group the selected level 2 speaker comes from, that group will need to pick a new level 1 leader to speak for that group.

By only allowing a speaker to represent one group, it means that group only needs to compete with 6 to 12 other people to have time to talk to the leader, and the leader counts towards the group size limit of 7 to 13 people. A speaker is not a leader and has no authority other than to speak about what their group wants to say. A group can change its speaker at any time. By repeating this process:
> A level 1 speaker represents 10^1 = 10 people
> A level 2 speaker represents 10^2 = 100 people
> A level 3 speaker represents 10^3 = 1,000 people
> A level 8 speaker represents 10^8 = 100,000,000 people

Because this is entirely social, it involves no money and is dynamically democratic in choosing its leadership, this should result in a better democratic republican style voice for the people. While a level 8 speaker does not have official leadership power, because they are speaking for a hundred million people, elected officials with real power would need to listen to them, because they represent so many voters.

The next most important part of this is for these groups to become active. Everyone within a group should have a cell phone with applications that facilitate communication within the group. In this way, if something happens, the group can quickly become aware of it and respond accordingly.

As a suggestion, once a week, go outside for 1 or 2 hours and let people know you are part of By the Power of Ten. Always be organized about it, make sure to keep things nonviolent, and do not vandalize anything or break any laws. If you are a US citizen or want to be a US citizen, bring an American Flag and wave it. Make it clear you are part of the People of the United States of America, and thus this is your country; do not let bad people take that away from you.

It will be very hard for someone trying to claim you are violent and anti-American if you are waving the American Flag and shouting out, "We are the People, this is Our Country". But if tens of millions of people do this, it will frighten those who stand against democracy, scaring those who want a dictatorship in America.

The Civic Platform

The By the Power of Ten™ Civic Platform, yet to be built, will be an online system that supports the social movement.  It will help to connect the groups socially, reflecting the By the Power of Ten social structure and goal of helping people express their opinions in ways other people can hear.

The platform will begin as a visually 2D social media network, with the goal of keeping this part free. Each use will have three spaces with the idea of being like their virtual online home.
• A public “front yard” where ideas are shared openly. This would be like a user's landing page, where some of the space would be controlled by the platform, but most of the content of the space would be controlled by the user.
• A private “home” where only those invited by the user could come inside, and all the interior contents would be user-controlled.
• A secure “control room” accessible only to the user.

What group a user belonged to and their speaker level would be part of their online identity. While it would be important to identify who a user is, for legal purposes, their online public identity would be a user name of their choice, limited to non-offensive user names.

In the long run, the plan is to expand the platform with an optional, visually 3D social space, having the same public, private, and secure areas for each user, but having it in a 3D world, perhaps using Unreal Engine 5. This optional 3D social space would have some kind of monthly fee to pay for running the whole platform.

Next Steps

By the Power of Ten™ is entering its first stages of development:

• First is to begin building the social movement, which depends entirely upon people doing. This state is not about profit, but about defending of democratic republic from being taken over by authoritarians who hate democracy.

• Second is to complete legal registration and intellectual property protections for the By the Power of Ten™ name and concept.

• Third is to find the funding and help to create the first 2D public-facing version of the Civic Platform, a simple, functional website where people can form their first groups of ten and select their speakers, to grow in what it can offer over time.

• Fourth is to expand the Civic Platform in a subscription-paid 3D social space, keeping the subscription costs reasonable, while using that money to support the civic platform and create an enjoyable online 3D socializing space.

In the long run, By the Power of Ten will hopefully help greatly strengthen our democratic republic.
